_assessment
20% - intermittent assignment submissions
10% - data content
40% - dynamic, database-driven website with exploratory, visual interface
20% - user evaluation report
10% - class participation, attendance & questionnaires
(these assessments might change to more effectively reflect the performed workload)
_criteria
most assignments will be assessed on following criteria:
_ design quality (originality, conceptual exploration, aesthetics, user experience)
_ technical achievement (skill, interaction, functionality, coding, effort, sophistication)
_ usability considerations (effectiveness, efficiency, detailing)
_attendance
attendance at the lectures & tutorials is obligatory. students wishing not to attend the tutorial sessions (because they assume they already have the technical expertise) will need to contact the lecturer beforehand. students with lower than 90% of attendance (without prior agreement of the lecturer) may receive an automatic ‘fail by absence'.
_plagiarism
read carefully the plagiarism guidelines. never copy any design. never base your concept or design on similar approaches from other designers or students. never use any images without possessing the copyrights. never copy any code without clearly referencing the full name of the original author and the originating online address (e.g. URL) where you found the code. even then, copied code is very difficult to asses, and will result in a lower assessment than fully understood and independently implemented or significantly(!) altered code. plagiarism is a serious matter: if in doubt, always contact the lecturer beforehand for advice.
_late submission
the Faculty of Architecture Special Consideration, Late Submission and Attendance policy is available on the architecture web site under "current students" ( www.arch.usyd.edu.au ). students are advised that there are significant changes to these policies and should familiarize themselves with the new procedures.
