project assessment criteria
the design assignments will be assessed as a whole on following criteria:
- design quality (40%): originality, conceptual exploration, aesthetics, user experience
- technical achievement (40%): skill, interaction, functionality, coding, effort, sophistication
- presentation quality (20%): demonstration, presentation technique, narrative, use of multimedia, style, clarity, consistency,
report assessment criteria
the design assignments will be assessed as a whole on following criteria:
- lay-out (10%): visual representation, use of figures, fonts, consistency, …
- methodology (35%): valid approach, self-critical description, level of detail, analysis of results, …
- content (40%): valid conclusions, level of detail, valid & concise argumentation, completeness, …
- writing style(15%): academic style, complete referencing, narrative structure, order, spelling, grammar, …
intervention & artefact criteria
the visualization intervention & visualization artefact will be assessed as a whole on following criteria:
- concept quality (40%): originality, conceptual exploration, exploration
- presentation quality (40%): technical expertise of execution, detail, sophistication, aesthetics, personal visual style, consistency
- documentation quality (20%): description, explanation & visual documentation of work
presentation assessment criteria
the presentations will be assessed as a whole on following criteria:
- presentation quality (50%): presentation technique, use of multimedia, style, clarity, knowledge of the field, engaging discourse, narrative,, ….
- conceptual quality (50%): originality, exploration & sophistication of idea, argumentation, background research, …
attendance assessment
is based on following criteria: attendance in lectures & tutorials, participation, quizzes, responses in class, voluntary engagement, personal involvement

attendance
attendance at the lectures & tutorials is obligatory. students wishing not to attend the tutorial sessions need to acquire persmission from the lecturer beforehand.
plagiarism
read carefully the plagiarism guidelines. never copy any design. never base your concept or design on similar approaches from other designers or students. never use any images without possessing the copyrights. never copy any code without clearly referencing the full name of the original author and the originating online address (e.g. URL) where you found the code. plagiarism is a serious matter: if in doubt, always contact the lecturer beforehand for advice.
late submission
