The objective of infodevice 2007 was to create a persuasive physical device.
This site details and implements the beginnings of infoBaton, a game meant to
be played in any building with stairs. Its purpose is to persuade people to use
the stairs instead of the elevator. Instead of placing a negative stigma on elevator
use, the intention is to focus on the action of climbing stairs and the interactive
and fun experience it can be.
The game elements include a baton, docking bays for communicating with
and holding the baton and an information display board, which can be
programmed to act as a scoreboard, a timer, a device that reflects the
batons "emotions", or to display information directly related to the people
in the building who might or might not be knowingly playing the game.
