The earth's climate has changed since the industrial revolution in the 19th century. In particular, the use of fossil fuels and large scale deforestation have contributed to an ever-increasing level of greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide and methane releasing into our atmostphere. The increased level of these gases is widely believed to be responsible for the observed increase in global mean temperatures and storm activities through the 20th century. As greenhouse gases are invisible, it is often difficult for people to appreciate the impact of these gases on our climate.
The project builds a device that aims at informing us the relationship between greenhouses gas levels and storm activities, in a bid to change our behaviour to conserve energy or use alternative, renewable energy. |
